The Furry Angel. That was probably the most cathartic book I have written to date. Where as I only cried for twenty five per cent whilst writing the first book. I must have sobbed for seventy five per cent of this one. Again I was unsure why I wrote it initially. After all who wants to read about a man rescuing a dog, or a dog rescuing a man? Surprisingly many people did.
I had suffered a very damaging breakdown. I was an alcoholic. I was on that very fine line of ending the pain or fighting on. Life had sent me lots of challenges and I broke. Then one day I discovered the best drug of all. It was a dirty, mentally damaged Labrador called Pippin. The dog version of me.
We became each other’s saviour. My world changed from black and white to colour. I started to see the fun in life again. My sense of humour returned. And we traveled hundreds of miles creating laughter and havoc wherever we went. Anyone who ever met Pip will remember that she truly was the furry Angel. She helped save my life.
