Hopefully during the next month the third book in the incredible true life love story should be released. ‘ From Michigan To New York “.
All those teenagers wanted was to be together. Every moment of their lives was waiting. Waiting for the weekends to see each other. Waiting to get a car, waiting for the war to end, waiting to have enough money, waiting to be together. Their whole lives were waiting for something.
Even though the love letters were written over seventy years ago, little has changed. I got to thinking about my own poor late Mum and Dad. They were always waiting too. They waited for pay day, they waited for that pot of gold, that something in their lives to change. That melancholy to change into happiness. After we are born we wait to begin school. Then we cannot wait to leave the awful place. We can’t wait to start work, and soon realise we hate the politics . We wait for the weekends, holidays, new shoes, birthdays, Christmas, children etc. Then we cannot wait to retire. Everyday we are waiting for something.
Most people work hard all their lives, and struggle whilst doing it. They pay the bills, mortgages, health care, loans and credit cards. They fret and worry. But all the time they are waiting for something better to happen in their lives. Perhaps sub consciously we are waiting for the game of life to end. Then when we are gone we leave everything we toiled for, everything we worried for, to whomever.
But what if we stopped the waiting? What if we stopped thinking about the end game? What if we lived for ourselves? For those sunshine days. After all it is only ourselves that can truly make our inner self happy. We get one chance at life. Stop saving as if you will live to be 100. You probably won’t get there. And if you do then you won’t care. Stop waiting to have enough money to feel completely safe. Because you will never have enough. Live every day with laughter and stop waiting.
Do what makes you happy today.
