Myself and Saff were listening to Mexican music when my mind wandered off. I remembered the time that I discovered that looking back wasn’t always good for me. It had a negative impact on the way I felt in the present. But I found a way of controlling it. How you may ask? Well every-time I visited the past in my mind, I asked myself what lesson did I learn from it. I soon found out that I learned something from every single traumatic or painful experience. I then changed my mindset. I began to turn every negative hurt into a positive lesson. It is often very difficult I know. But it changed that chubby little sad face into a happy one.
The most important lessons I learned was to be kind, friendly and have empathy. Holding on to anger, distrust, hurt and resentment eats away at the heart, mind and soul. Now if I look back at certain times and people I say “thank you for the lesson “. And it teaches me not to behave like them.
Saffy has the right idea. Those first four years in hell are hopefully distant memories. But her last seven years show that we all can move on and love again. I forgive everyone who has hurt me. And I hope they can forgive me for my wrongdoings. Letting go is so liberating.
