I am so truly fortunate

Aug 15, 2023

I am so truly fortunate. I am so blessed. I am lucky because I grew up where and when I did. Being raised on a council estate in the sixties and seventies was better than any finishing school. Getting those life lessons and being part of the working classes has helped make me proud and respectful. It has made me un afraid of getting my hands dirty. But most of all it has taught me to have manners and to treat everyone fairly.

I learned at an early age that I had more in common with the guy digging the ditch, than with the guy paying him to do so. I suppose that I had that working class chip on my shoulder, and felt everyone was better and more deserving than I was. I now realise that there is very little difference between any of us, we all need others.

Through total choice I choose to have different facets to my life. One day I am digging the ground, and the next day I am travelling in my mind whilst writing. No side of me is more important or superior to the other. Both are required for my well being.

Those formative years taught me not to walk behind any man, not to walk in front of any man, but to walk by their side. Not any one of us are better than anyone else, just different. However, because of wealth or education some may think they are. In my experience the wisest and richest people are the people who are kind, and give respect to all. After all, does a rich arrogant man have more friends than a poor kind man? And the richest people in the whole world, are the ones with friends. Respect to you all.
