Well it has been a funny old year. People have entered my life and people have exited it.
Since I began writing ten years ago it has made me far more aware of what is going on around me. I am far more interested in my fellow man and all the planets creatures. And the struggles most people are having. Yet often we don’t know because we are so wrapped up in our own suffering. I have learned to listen and digest more.
I end last year and begin this year very much immersed in the love story I have been living in. Many of you will know I got asked to write a wonderful story. I actually received a box filled with 1000 love letters from the USA dated 1948 – 1953. Well I sat and transcribed every single word of those passionate scribings by hand. I then put them in date order and typed them up. I walked every day of their teenage journey. Those young people showed more love in half a dozen letters than most people show in a lifetime. Now hundreds of thousands of words later these letters will be turned into six books. Three months ago the first book “The Teenage Romance Of Michigan” was released. The T.V, the newspapers and the radio were very kind, and I was truly flattered.
But now I am to tell you that the next book in the series is due to be released any day. If any of you have been so in love that it hurt every waking moment then these books are for you. Have you ever loved someone but their parents didn’t want you around? Have you ever loved someone so much that you want to lay in their arms, but you know you are not allowed to? Do you remember being that teenager that just wanted to grow up quickly, marry and love forever? Most people have felt some of the above. But 99.99% of us never sent letters nearly every day over a five year period. And I am pretty sure you didn’t keep all the letters. It is an honour and a pleasure to share this journey with the family of the teenagers. And with everyone who picks up the book.
Very often we tend to look at the negative things in the world. But this story will just show you that love can conquer all. Poverty, religious intolerence, racism and war is no match for our strongest emotion.
Please join myself, Patsy and Bill on the next part of their journey. And please take that plunge and carry on loving.
